Swim with Friend and Sunbeams

Today at the lake I went to another beach. It’s one of my favorites. The water is clear, I get a different view, and the beach is right at the end of a busy street of small neighborhood shops. There’s also a big apartment complex sticking out into/over the water. Even better, the bottom is SAND. No pebbles, no icky seaweed creepies. Sand beach, sand on the lake floor.

I like swimming here because it feels safer. It’s not hidden away like the other beaches inside parks. People coming and going. Today people were sitting on the benches, probably wondering what those two crazy women in wetsuits were doing swimming in that cold water.

I got to swim with K today, so that was nice. It’s so hard to coordinate schedules, so it’s quite special when I can connect with a swim buddy. It’s funny though because we both scurry into the water, then after, hurry to change into warm gear and get in our cars. And we swim different swims. Different styles. Different paces. Different directions. It’s how it always is.

I think it will be more social in the summer when we are warm.

It was a bit choppy today, but I really enjoyed it and had fun playing with my camera.

Afterwards, when I was sitting in my car, catching my breath, hydrating, checking my phone messages, the guy in the car next to mine started talking to me. I opened my car door and we sat and talked for about 20 min until his lady friend texted to say she was ready to be picked up. I love when I can have a nice chat with a stranger.
