Two Ducks and a Swim Buddy

April 13, 2022 | Water Temp 46 F

Today at the lake it was cold outside, but the lake was nice and flat. I was happy to meet up with a swim buddy.

I was tired after my zapping treatment, but always happy to be at the beach, chatting with my swim buddy, getting ready to enter the water. The duck couple that is always there was paddling around in the shallow water. I felt welcomed by them because they didn’t swim or fly away. They’re so used to people. Plus, it’s their lake.

I noticed my swim buddy had her gloves on the outside of her wetsuit sleeves, so I was excited to get to tell her that she needed to tuck then under the sleeves to prevent water from getting in. Another swim buddy, V, taught me this back in December or so. Made me happy to share info; I’ve learned so much since I started this in July.

I didn’t do my typical brain dump after my swim, so I’m trying to write this from memory a week later. I know I set my alarm for 20 minutes. I know I had a good swim. I was able to pace myself and swim the entire time, only making brief stops to sight. My swim buddy stayed in the swim area.

So happy to come out of the water with my swim buddy and have a few minutes to chat. I didn’t realize how much I missed swimming with other people until this week and my luck at having several consecutive swim dates!
