Water Warming Up

Temp 78.  Water temp 66 F.

Today at the lake it felt blazing hot in my wetsuit. I was very eager to get in the water.

We had a new swimmer today, so I was very excited to welcome her into our little group. We chatted a bit before we got into the water, and she, too, broke her leg (and her arm) and had to get surgery. We compared scars, but most of mine were covered by my wetsuit. It’s so odd that as soon as we started talking about it I felt noticeably different. Like maybe it wasn’t all my fault. Other people have fallen, too.

I didn’t have much time to talk with the other to swimmers, C and K6, because I had to get back for a Zoom call, so I jumped in and swam out to the deep area. Some nutty windsurfers put in right next to the swim beach, then awkwardly sailed through the swim area (the ropes aren’t up yet). Pissed me off. They have absolutely no awareness that people are in the swim area or that they don’t belong in the swim area. I will be happy when the beach officially opens and the ropes are up.

I did a few out and backs, then went around the dock once, maybe twice. I can’t remember. I was so focussed on getting my swim in so I wouldn’t be late for my next thing.

After I came in C and K6 swam out to the doc and back. I was really impressed. That is a big deal for a first lake swim.

That’s all for today.
